Announcement | Lionel Pontes became Shanghai Shenhua foot
Shanghai Shenhua Football Club signed a contract with Portuguese coach Leonel Pontes. Mr. Pontes officially became the technical director of youth training of Shanghai Shenhua football club.
Lionel Pontes was born in Portugal on July 9, 1972. The most well-known identity of Pontes is the Enlightenment coach of international football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo. In addition, Pontes’s coaching career has explored and trained many international top stars such as Nani, Pepe, mutino, Jose Fonte, quaresmar, Bruno Fernández, etc. Pontes participated in the European Cup in 2012 and the World Cup in 2014 as a teaching assistant of the Portuguese national team. During the period from 1995 to 2020, Pontes worked for a long time in Portugal’s old domestic sports club, and successively served as head coach and assistant coach of the first team, Team B, U23 and echelon teams at all levels.
The appointment of the technical director of youth training is an important part of the youth football development and strategy of Shenhua club. Its job responsibilities include: studying and formulating echelon tactical styles and systems that conform to the development direction of the club, and integrate into Shenhua youth training courses of all ages; Continuously monitor relevant technical and tactical data to ensure the best training and competition effect; Cultivate excellent youth coach for the club, and provide support in football courses and coach training; establish standards for recruitment, assessment and evaluation of young players.
